NVIDIA Speaks Out About Intel Larrabee - Stirs The Hornets Nest Some More!
Legit Reviews - August 12, 2008 7:01 PM
NVIDIA doesn't seem too happy with the current noise about Larrabee and thought that it was time to address some of the questions they are getting from the media. They also went one step further and asked some of their own questions that they feel should be answered. This is well worth a read if you have been following Larrabee and NVIDIA's CUDA language. It sounds like those at Siggraph should have some good stories to tell!
"Intel has spent a lot of energy telling the world that the GPU is dying or that it is not a growing market why then are they investing so heavily on Larrabee and talking so much about it? Larrabee, like NVIDIA GPUs, has enormous floating point processing power. Wouldnt this encourage all the supercomputing clusters in the world to adopt GPU/Larrabeestyle architectures and subsequently hurt Intels CPU market? "
